Have Your Say on Making the City a Fairer Place!

Workers, residents and visitors are being asked to help shape the Square Mile governing body’s approach to promoting a City where everyone can thrive.

The City of London Corporation is consulting on five equality, diversity and inclusion objectives, which outline its approach to making the City a fairer, more diverse place.

It aims to provide aspirational leadership, enable career progression opportunities for all, create a community-based approach to service delivery and promote socio-economic diversity.

Embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in the City’s work, and attracting and retaining the widest possible pool of global talent is vital to ensure the City remains competitive, productive and innovative.

Are the objectives clear, strong and relevant enough to make an impact? Have your say:

City and Hackney Recovery College – Spring Prospectus

Check out the latest course prospectus from the City and Hackney Recovery College here. There are some amazing courses for people with mental health difficulties, their families and their carers.

The City & Hackney Recovery College has been designed to develop courses to empower people to become experts in their own self-care and wellbeing.

All our courses are based on the ”five to thrive” and CHIME principles. We are open for all and anyone with a connection to City or Hackney. We are proud to support and work with those who have been diagnosed with severe mental illness. We do this by aiming to promote social inclusion and to break down the stigma and discrimination of mental illness. Sometimes people just need to be reminded that they are more than an illness and that’s what we aim to do.

Digital City Friends

Our lovely Community Engagement Officer, Gow, has set up a new Digital Drop-in session for City residents in the Golden Lane Community Centre every Thursday from 4.00 – 5.30pm!

The Green Doctor in the City

The Green Doctor service recently helped one City resident to save more than £750 a year with energy advice and their hands-on interventions. They were able to help with a Water Help Application, give advice on tariffs and were able to install LED bulbs and other energy saving devices.

The service is free to use, and if you live in the Square Mile, you can call them on 0300 365 3005 (free-of-charge). Others can refer residents using the referral form on the Green Doctor web page. Residents in Southwark and Lambeth are also able to use the Green Doctor and residents elsewhere can look at their local council website for offers where they live.
