Important Update from City Advice

In response to feedback from the local community, and the current economic climate, City Advice is very keen to ensure their service is as accessible as possible. To that end, they are starting a fortnightly session on the Golden Lane estate – pre-booked appointments (see flyer below). They are also holding a drop in session at the Toynbee Hall advice centre every Thursday 10-12 noon.

It is still encouraged to speak with them via email or phone beforehand so that you get the right type of advice in a timely manner.

Smokefree City & Hackney

Smokefree City & Hackney launches Stoptober 2022 campaign

We aim to help people to quit by giving them the confidence to give it a go.

Research suggests that many people are scared to give quitting a go.  They are worried about failing, they feel uncertain about who they will be if they are not a smoker.

With support and medication (or an e-cigarette) we have helped 1000s of people to quit. That is why we are saying, ‘You’ve got what it takes to quit this Stoptober’.

A year and a half ago, Chase Burton, a Hackney Resident found that he has what it takes to quit.  His smokefree advisor supported him and helped him to find the nicotine replacement therapy that suited him best.  Chase says of smoking, “I enjoyed it.  You know it’s bad for you and that it can kill you, but the nicotine makes you feel damn good! I definitely used smoking to calm me down even though I was thinking in my head ‘this is no good for you.’

Now he hasn’t smoked for a year and a half, Chase feels healthier both physically and mentally: “My chest is much better, no more morning cough… For anyone who is a long-term smoker like I used to be, I would definitely say do it …  I’m happy that it worked for me and I’m happy with the service: I would 100% recommend the stop smoking service to anyone who asks!”

If you smoke, quitting is one of the best things you can do for your health, allowing you to start moving better, breathe more easily – and giving you more money to spend. Join the thousands of others and start your quitting journey this October
