St Luke's Islington

social support barbican library

We are a friendly charity, which runs a lively community centre to help improve the lives of people in Islington, enabling people to get together for activities such as exercise, art, and cookery. During Covid-19, we also offer telephone befriending, lock down lunches and an information helpline.

Our Centre in Central Street is slowly starting to open and as always our priority is supporting those who are most vulnerable in our community, including frail and isolated pensioners, residents experiencing financial difficulties and households affected by sickness. Our outreach services, including lunch delivery, food packages and telephone befriending, for those living locally will continue.

We are offering a limited Lunch Club open to those older members who feel ready to come to the Centre. We have strict social distancing measures in place throughout the Centre and have employed a full time cleaner. We have moved the Club Room to the Garden Room so people do not need to use the lift. Members will have use of our large Garden Room and can chat at a distance before and after lunch, and we are running some activities including Bingo and Hoy. If you would like to attend Lunch Club it must be booked in advance as spaces are limited due to social distancing measures. Please call 020 7549 8181 for details.
